Core Commitments
Denver Pres is joyfully committed to God’s Word and the historic, Christian faith. Read below for highlights.
We believe the Bible is the written word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error in the original manuscripts. The Bible is the revelation of God's truth and is infallible and authoritative in all matters of faith and practice.
The Bible
We believe in the Holy Trinity. There is one God, who exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
The Trinity
We believe that all human beings are created in the good image of God, yet as a result of the sins of our first parents, all are sinners and totally unable to save themselves from God's righteous displeasure, except by His mercy.
Human Beings
We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, who through His perfect life and sacrificial death atoned for the sins of all who will trust in Him, alone, for salvation. We believe that Jesus will return, bodily and visibly, to judge all mankind and to receive His people to Himself.
The Person of Jesus Christ
We believe that salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. This salvation is based solely on God’s grace, not on any human individual merit, or foreseen faith. It is the Holy Spirit who gives God’s people the strength and wisdom to trust Christ and follow Him.
Salvation
We believe that the church is the people of God, saved by Christ and founded on the witness of the Apostles. It is in local congregations that we worship our Lord, grow in His likeness, and enjoy serving Him together.
The Church
Core Values
These values guide our church life, engagement with our communities, and our walk with each other.
The Gospel (‘Good News’) of Jesus reveals that the loving God who made everyone and everything never gives up on anyone or anything. Because of Jesus, the future of humanity and the world is glorious. And everyone is invited to participate, free of charge.
GOSPEL
Because all people are made in God’s image, we are passionate to see human dignity honored, celebrated, and restored.
DIGNITY
Truth-seekers value honest and humble engagement about significant questions of faith and life over striving to prove that we are ‘right’. As a result, truth-seekers are free to listen to those who do not share our beliefs, and are never content with superficial answers about God, His world, others and ourselves.
TRUTH
God delights in people and in the world that He has made, and in the glorious future he intends for both. Likewise, God wants us to fall in love with His vision for the world and for humanity—not merely to be filled with right ideas about them.
BEAUTY
At the core of the mystery of God we find an eternal community: Father, Son and Spirit. As those made in God’s image, people are made for relationship with God and with one another. Authentic Christian community bears powerful witness to the reconciling work of Christ in the world, and is the means by which we grow in our love for God and neighbor.
COMMUNITY
A Presbyterian Church
Denver Presbyterian Church is a member of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), and as such, maintains the theological and ecclesiastical roots of the Reformed tradition. The Westminster Confession of Faith is an excellent summary of those doctrines which we hold dear and has served as a doctrinal standard for Presbyterian churches since the 17th century.
